Making Wooden Toys for Children (Copy)

Today Woodworkers of Whittier will be making wooden toys for children using recycled wood. We will be finishing the making of ‘Cheer Boxes’ for the Cheer Squad at Whittier High School. We are starting to build toy wooden airplanes and boats in addition to our usual wooden cars. Come on down and help out. All Things Clay, Glass, Wood & Metal 3D Show and Sale

Calling All Artists. The Whittier Art Gallery, founded in 1939, is hosting a show and sale for all clay, glass, wood, and metal Objets d’Arte. Entry fee is $25/artist; no limit on the number items entered. One item must be donated to the Gallery.

Show runs Wednesday through Sunday, March 6 through March 23rd, 1 PM to 5 PM each day.

NOTE: Take in is Sunday, March 3rd, 10 am to 4 pm. Items must be delivered with prices and an inventory list. Call Scott at 562-698-8710 and leave your name, address, and phone number. A pre-take-in packet with blank inventory list will be mailed to you.

Linus Pauling Day

Dr. Linus Pauling was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1954. He also received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1963. He is the only person who has won two unshared Nobel Prizes and one of two people to be awarded Nobel Prizes in different fields, the other being Marie Curie.

Pauling did extensive research on immunology, the structure of hemoglobin and the nature of sickle cell anemia. Pauling received his bachelor of science from Oregon State University and his doctorate from California Institute of Technology. He also received many other awards, including 47 honorary doctorates.
